Yes NBA fans it’s time to rejoice! The NBA has reached a tentative agreement that would allow the association to have a 66 game season that would start on none other than Christmas day!
A welcomed gift for NBA fans around the country, and the world. Its been an ugly lockout, that has resulted in bickering and greed. While I personally lost interest and respect for a lot of these people involved in talks, I can never lose interest in my first love. Sports can turn into a really ugly business, but when things are sqaured away it’s easy to forget what really went down. Well I can tell you I won’t be forgetting this lockout anytime soon, but I am very happy that I get to see my Houston Rockets and the NBA perform. At the end of the day it’s my escape from reality, and I can’t wait for Christmas to roll around.
Just some more info I have gathered from the Twitter gurus @KBergCBS and @WojYahooNBA who have done a tremoundous job covering this mess.
-December 25th is the targeted date to start the season. Big ratings will obviously be expected, so no better time to get people back in the swing of things
– Training camps will open Dec. 9
Things still need to be ironed out obviously but after 16 hours of negotiations tonight, and a “handshake” agreement around 3 A.M. finally did the trick. Not coming up with a deal would have been catostrophic for this leagues reputation, popularity, and overall significance in sports. Owners and players come out of this entire situation looking a lot more greedy than they ever have, but I am sure the league hopes fans have a short term memory on this fiasco, and the NBA can continue to rise in ratings and popualrity.
All I have to say is LETS GO ROCKETS!
